Hearing upcoming for Bella Vista development bylaws
The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) board of directors Jan. 8 passed the first two readings of bylaws that if approved will permit multi-family residential development in Bella Vista Properties, located between Highway 93/95 and Columbia Lake Road, south of Columere Road.
The board approved Bylaw No. 3020 & Bylaw No. 3021 (Columbia Lake West / Bella Vista Properties Ltd) seeking to amend the official community plan (OCP) and zoning designations of a portion of the property to permit multi-family residential development.
A RDEK planning report to the board notes the OCP supports residential development in this area. The subject property already has a portion designated for multi-family development and the adjacent lands to the south are conserved greenspace.

The next step for the process is a public hearing on Tuesday, January 26 at 6 p.m. via Zoom.
