Indian Beach Estates holding FireSmart work bee

Residents of Indian Beach Estates are holding a FireSmart Work Bee and Chipping Event on June 3, and those in that community are encouraged to take part.

“Indian Beach has earned the status of being a FireSmart Canada Nationally Recognized Neighbourhood and continues to work on common areas in their community to increase their resilience to wildfire,” said Local FireSmart Representative, Yvan Kathriner.

“By taking on these projects together, they are working toward a result that is beneficial for everyone.”

The event will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, June 3.

The community will meet at the IBE Pump House. They will be concentrating on the natural area within Indian Beach Road and Crescent. Residents are asked to bring gloves and safety glasses.

The FireSmart Program offers clear guidelines and simple steps that the public can take to make their homes and properties more fire resilient.
