10th Relay for Life running June 16 in Invermere
By Sheila Tutty
You are invited to the 10th anniversary of the Columbia Valley Relay for Life on Saturday, June 16, starting at 3 p.m. at the David Thompson Secondary School track.
This is not a race, nor is it a competition. It is an opportunity to help raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society, which provides services like prevention, living with cancer, counseling and research.
Gather your family, your friends, and your family’s friends and register a team.
CELEBRATE with our Survivors All cancer survivors and their caregivers are invited to join us for the Survivors’ Reception in the Survivors’ Tent, and then proudly participate in the Survivors’ Victory Lap.
Visit the Healthy Lifestyles tent; and
– enter your vote for the community’s favourite fruit, and champion vegetable
– add a stick figure of you doing your favourite sport to the healthy lifestyles mural, and
complete a short quiz and enter your name to win a hanging basket (adults).
REMEMBER with a Luminary.
Visit the ladies in the Luminary tent and buy a luminary in memory of someone you have lost, in honour of someone who has beaten cancer, or in support of someone who is fighting cancer.
Registration and donation – stop by the registration tent to register, pick up your t-shirt, or to make a donation. If you are a participant and have money collected, drop it off here.
Entertainment – check the schedule of events for a variety of fun things to do to keep busy while not on the track.
After midnight – The ‘after-midnight’ crew have a variety of games and activities to help you get through the night hours
FIGHT BACK at our closing ceremony.
Join together for the final lap and Fight Back against cancer.
Breakfast
The Windermere District Lions Club will be flipping pancakes starting at 6 a.m.
Overnight participation is NOT mandatory. However, we encourage you to experience
