I Like Movies highlights next Movie Night
The appropriately titled I Like Movies is the next feature film in Invermere Film Festival’s Movie Night on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at Columbia Valley Centre (7 p.m.).
Making her feature debut, writer-director Chandler Levack has pulled off a rare trick here by making a movie that feels warm and safe without coddling its protagonist.
This delightful coming-of-age film set in the 1990’s (in Hamilton Ont.) “is bittersweet, funny, sad, and ultimately kind. You’d be a curmudgeon to not love this movie,” said Nadine Whitney of The Curb.
“This heart-tugging, film-loving smartypants with a wicked tongue rules! The character study, tell-all and comedy-drama seems fun ‘n’ games to start, but then develops complexity and emotional power. Terrific stuff,” added Anne Brodie of What She Said.
The film is winner of: Best Canadian Movie at the Calgary Film Fest 2022; Best Indie Film Santa Barbara Film Festival; and First Feature Award at the Miami Film Festival.
Movie Night is presented by the Invermere Film Festival in collaboration with TIFF Film Circuit (TIFF is the Toronto International Film Festival).
Invermere Film Festival is a not-for-profit cultural organization, and a registered charity.
