Integrative Cancer Care comes to Columbia Valley
A committee of eight very committed valley residents have garnered support to bring InspireHealth, Canada’s foremost Integrative Cancer Care Centre, to the Columbia Valley to provide information and care for people living with a diagnosis of cancer.
Drs. Teresa Clarke and Joe Schnurr of InspireHealth will present a free public talk on “Healthy Choices to Prevent Cancer & Recurrence” and the signature LIFE Program, a two-day workshop, designed for people living with cancer and their supporters, family and friends.
Free Public Talk: Healthy Choices to Prevent Cancer & Recurrence
Wednesday, October 3, 7 – 9 p.m.
Copper Point Resort, Invermere
LIFE Program
October 4 – 5, 9:30 a.m. -4:30 p.m. at Copper Point Resort, Invermere.
Four of the valley residents (Connie Watson, Sue Engelbracht, Donna Taillon, and Donna Slobodzian) have taken the two-day LIFE program in Vancouver. They feel so strongly about its benefits that they decided to share this with others with cancer by bringing the program to Invermere. The Lake Windermere District and Fairmont Lions Clubs, along with the Kinsmen Club of Windermere Valley and Rotary Clubs are all supporting the new InspireLIFE BC initiative.
The InspireLIFE BC initiative is the first of its kind in North America, providing integrative cancer care through the LIFE Program, a locally delivered community-based workshop. Follow-up care and support continue through specialized integrative clinical services delivered through a new and innovative online program. It has been carefully designed to help those with a diagnosis of cancer regain control of their lives by empowering them to play an active role in the development of their own personalized cancer care and wellness plan.
The InspireLIFE BC program is for people living with cancer and their supporters, family and friends. It engages people in their own health care by supporting recovery and survival through healthful nutrition, appropriate exercise, emotional support and stress reduction. This is all safely integrated with standard cancer treatments.
Program cost is $150 before Sept. 14 ($250 after Sept. 14) for those with a diagnosis of cancer and $95 for their caregivers.
