Library readying to move to new home

The Invermere Public Library will be on the move into its new space in the Columbia Valley Centre and likely sooner than expected.

Work is being finished inside the new library and it is scheduled for completion by the end of May. In the meantime, the library will be finalizing its selection of new furnishings that will outfit the space. Once the furniture arrives and is in place at the new location, the final step will be to move the books and equipment up the street.

Library staff expects that the move will take place during the summer.

The library is still actively fundraising to outfit the new facility and encourages everyone who wants to be a part of the new building’s legacy to act soon. For as little as $75, donors can purchase a bookplate that will be placed in the front of a library book. The bookplate will commemorate the opening of the new library and will recognize donors by name.

Anyone who makes a donation of any value to the fundraising campaign will also be invited to the library’s Preview Gala, an exclusive opportunity to visit the new library before it opens to the public.
