Soil & Sustainability Convention Sept. 17/18
One of the world’s best-known scholars of soil microbiology and the soil foodweb, Dr. Elaine Ingham (pictured), is making her only Western Canadian appearance this year at the upcoming Soil & Sustainability Convention, on September 17 & 18, hosted by the Groundswell Network Society, in Invermere.
The convention opens Thursday, Sept 17, 6 – 9 p.m. with Dr. Ingham’s three-hour public presentation, which weaves together the following topics: Life in the Soil, The Composition of Compost and A Sneak Peek at Soil in the Scope.
Friday, Sept. 18, from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. is a full day of soil and permaculture workshops, hosted by regional experts with topics such as: Building healthy soil, Hugelkultur, Composting with worms, Compost Extract, Designing a passive solar greenhouse, Food forest design, Rainwater harvesting, and more.
The event is being held at Groundswell’s award-winning greenhouse and permaculture demonstration site, and 100% of proceeds will go towards supporting the work Groundswell is doing as a social enterprise.
