The topsy turvy nature of our times, with wildfires an ever-looming threat surrounded by the arrival of the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, has once again turned on well-established plans for community celebrations.

The Kinsmen Club of Windermere Valley August 30 announced it is cancelling its second attempt to stage the 2021 Canada Day fireworks extravaganza.

“Unfortunately, we have had to cancel the fireworks for September 4 as they are not currently permitted. We hope everyone understands. We will continue to do our best to hold this event in the future, once it is safe to do so,” the Kinsmen Club stated on social media.
