Local distiller bronzed at Fraser Valley Festival

The Fraser Valley Distillery Festival was a hit with all who attended.

And the Chilliwack Academy of Music would like to thank everyone for a spectacular party, filled with new friends and old, with award-winning spirits, tasty treats, and local musicians at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on Friday, January 26.

Twenty-two distilleries brought delicious things for our guests to taste, and three distilleries won Festival Favourite.

Wayward Distillation House won Gold, Sons of Vancouver won Silver, and Invermere-based Taynton Bay Spirits won Bronze. It was a close call, though! They will all have to fight to keep their places next year, without a doubt. Every single distillery brought their A-game, and their brilliant creations.

The Silent Auction raised $3,680. The highest bid item was the bar fridge donated by Wagner’s Appliances, filled with spirits donated by participating distilleries. Second highest bid went to the Taynton Bay survival kit. Other donors include Mt Waddington’s Outdoors, Harrison Hot Springs Resort, and Manning Park Resort.

“We love having a fun time with everyone who comes to our booth. Our most popular spirits were definitely Sinferno, our cinnamon and honey infusion and Pickled Vodka.  The Survival Kit is always good at grabbing people’s attention, catching the eye of attendees as well as other distilleries.  We were happy to donate a fully stocked kit to the events silent auction and it was the number two seller that evening, raising $325,” related Theresa Wood of Taynton Bay Spirits.
