New community liaison for northeast basin
Ben Gadd brings local insight and a passion for community engagement
Ben Gadd is bringing a strong connection to the region and a passion for collaboration to his new role as Community Liaison with Columbia Basin Trust.
Based in Golden, Ben will support communities across the Northeast Basin—including Valemount, Field, the Columbia Valley and the surrounding areas—to build relationships, identify opportunities and help advance local priorities.
“Growing up in Golden and having worked with the Trust over the past two summers, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the power of community-led initiatives,” said Gadd. “I’m excited to take on this role and continue supporting community efforts in a meaningful way.”
Ben recently completed a degree at the University of Northern British Columbia, where he focused on the social dimensions of sustainability—community engagement, facilitation and collaboration. His academic studies included hands-on experience working with non-profits, local governments and residents on projects that emphasized inclusive decision-making and community resilience.
Ben previously worked with the Trust on initiatives such as the public engagement process for renewing the Trust’s strategic plan (Our Trust, Our Future), where he gained valuable insight into Basin-wide priorities and community perspectives.
“Helping communities identify opportunities and connect with the right resources is a big part of this role,” said Ben. “I’m looking forward to listening, learning and working alongside people to create solutions that reflect their vision.”
As a Community Liaison, Ben joins a dedicated team that works with communities of all sizes across the Basin to understand local challenges, foster collaboration and support initiatives that enhance well-being in the region.
“We’re excited to welcome Ben to the team,” said Katie Kendall, Senior Manager, Delivery of Benefits, Columbia Basin Trust. “His local knowledge, thoughtful approach and experience in engagement will be an asset to both the team and the communities he serves.”
Outside of work, Ben enjoys exploring the Columbia Valley through hiking, mountain biking and Nordic skiing. He looks forward to continuing to support the region from his home community in Golden.
Communities are encouraged to connect with Ben and other members of the team to discuss local opportunities and access Trust support at ourtrust.org/communityliaisons.
