The fire is an estimated two hectares in size and is lightning caused, Parks Canada reported this afternoon.
It is burning in steep terrain; one helicopter will be supporting one Parks Canada initial attack crew with response efforts today.
Smoke and flame have been visible from Highway 93.
There is no threat to public safety or infrastructure at this time. There are no impacts to roads.
“Forest fuels are drying out and primed for new wildfires. Visitors are reminded to practice extra caution with campfire safety and to report any wildfires, illegal campfires or suspicious smoke to Parks Canada Emergency Dispatch: 403-762-4506,” the park service stated.
