Two arrested selling stolen goods on social media
Columbia Valley RCMP have arrested two Radium Hot Springs residents after an investigation showed they were selling items taken in break and enters to local homes on social media.
On February 19, Columbia Valley RCMP executed a search warrant on a residence in Radium after receiving some information about the residents selling stolen property.
“Investigation revealed the residents were posting items for sale on various social platforms; these items were reported stolen as the articles were noted to be from a couple of recent break and enters to local homes,” reported Sgt. Bob Vatamaniuck.
Once inside the suspect residence, police located a number of things that were reported stolen, mostly computer and electronic equipment.
A 30-year-old male and a 21-year-old female were arrested at the residence without incident.
Charges have been recommended and police are working with the property owners to return the articles, Sgt. Vatamaniuck said.
