RCMP respond to serious MVI east of Golden
On December 12, at approximately 9:30 a.m., frontline Golden-Field RCMP officers were called to a serious motor vehicle incident (MVI) on the Trans-Canada Highway east of Golden.
Two semi trucks crashed causing the highway to be completely blocked. The drivers suffered serious injuries and were transported to hospital.
The highway was completely shut down for a time but traffic in the area is now single lane alternating as police continue their investigation.
Golden-Field RCMP would like to acknowledge the partner agencies assisting with the incident, including BC Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE), Golden-Field Fire, BC Emergency Health Services, BC Highway Patrol, and the RCMP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service.
“The Golden-Field RCMP would like to remind drivers to drive to conditions and only travel if necessary. The roads are treacherous with the current weather conditions,” said Detachment commander Sgt. Mitch Mercier.
The Golden-Field RCMP is still working hard to determine the exact cause of the incident and advises the public to check DriveBC (English only) for current road conditions.
