RCMP searching for missing man and woman

RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance to come forward with any information, as efforts continue to be made to locate a man and a woman missing from the Columbia Valley area.

Columbia Valley RCMP received a report of a missing woman on October 30, and through investigative efforts police have identified a man who they believe may be missing as well.

Catherine Gibbons (above and right) was last heard from on October 24. Catherine enjoys the outdoors, and it’s not uncommon for her to camp out in her silver 2004 Hyundai Sante Fe, which bears Ontario licence plates CFLJ955. The vehicle is distinctive, with a bull bar on the front and a luggage container on the roof.

“Authorities believe that Damon Brodeur may be with Catherine Gibbons, and that the pair are camping together in the backcountry,” stated Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, spokesman for the BC RCMP Southeast District.

“At this time we do not believe that foul play is involved. However, we are concerned for the health and well-being of both Catherine and Damon.”

Description of Catherine Gibbons

Caucasian female; 22 years; 5 ft 2 in (157 cm); 111 lbs (50 kg); red hair.

Damon Brodeur

Columbia Valley RCMP are now being supported by the Kimberley RCMP, which has now joined the search of the backcountry along with search and rescue personnel.

Anyone with any additional information is asked to contact their local police. Or remain completely anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
