Rockies’ alumnus thriving with NCAA D3 Falcons

Columbia Valley Rockies’ alumnus Keenan Ingram (2022-23) is off to a strong start in his NCAA Division 3 career.

Ingram, a freshman with the University of Wisconsin–River Falls Falcons, has 10 goals on 39 shots and 16 points in 12 games, leading the team in points. Two of his goals have been winners, while four have come on the power play. On Oct. 31 against Lawrence, Ingram recorded a hat trick and four points in a 7-1 win.

“I’ve had a good start to my freshman year. My teammates were very welcoming and helped me feel comfortable,” said Ingram. “I’ve started on a ‘Freshmen’ line, and our on-ice awareness has really contributed to my success. I knew I’d have to work hard to earn my role, and I’ve been able to contribute.”

Ingram says his time with the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) Rockies was “a great way to transition from U18 hockey to Junior.”

“The league was faster and more physical, which pushed my game forward,” he said. “The coaching staff created a supportive team environment that allowed me to take risks and learn from mistakes.

“Playing in the KIJHL helped build my confidence and develop my game, opening doors to the next level.”

In his lone KIJHL season, Ingram was named Rookie of the Year after leading all rookies with 43 goals and 74 points in 41 games, ranking second overall in the league. He also represented Team KIJHL at the BCHC Prospects Game.
