Snowfall warning for Columbia Valley north

Highway 95 at Brisco earlier this morning.

Environment Canada this morning issued a snowfall warning for the Columbia Valley, beginning at Invermere and moving north to Golden and beyond.

Snowfall accumulations of 10 to 20 cm, or possibly higher, are expected before the heavy snow eases late this afternoon, as an arctic front moves across eastern British Columbia bringing heavy snow to the region.

The snowfall alert does not cover Kootenay National Park.

It is specifically for East Columbia, East Kootenay – north including Invermere, Trans-Canada Highway – Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass, West Columbia, North Columbia, Kinbasket, North Thompson, Arrow Lakes – Slocan Lake, Kootenay Lake, McGregor, Yellowhead, and Yellowhead Highway – Tête Jaune Cache to the Alberta Border.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
