Speeding duo drive into numerous charges
A traffic stop for speeding in Kootenay National Park resulted in a series of charges against two Calgary residents last Thursday.
On May 14, at about 3 p.m., an officer with the Columbia Valley RCMP Detachment stopped a Ford pickup for speeding on Highway 93 in Kootenay National Park.
The license plate on the truck was discovered to be stolen. An adult male and adult female were arrested for possession of stolen property.
Further checks revealed both individuals were under numerous conditions which they were also breaching, reported Sgt. Darren Kakuno, Columbia Valley RCMP Detachment commander.
“A search of the vehicle revealed stolen property, forged documents and controlled substances,” he said.
A 59-year-old male and a 49-year old female, both from Calgary, were charged with Possession of Break In Tools, Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000, Fail to Comply with Conditions and Knowingly Possessing a Forged Document with Intent.
On May 15 they were released from custody on strict conditions to attend court at a later date.
