Two killed in avalanche at Kicking Horse Resort
On February 16, at 1 p.m., Golden-Field RCMP was called to a report of an avalanche within the Kicking Horse Resort at Golden.
RCMP along with Golden Search and Rescue arrived and confirmed a group of six skiers had been caught in an avalanche. Of the six, two were found deceased.
The group had been skiing in the backcountry when the avalanche was triggered. The other members of the group suffered non-life-threatening injuries, reported Cpl. James Grandy, Southeast District RCMP Advisory NCO.
The group was properly equipped with kits and beacons.
Golden-Field RCMP are working alongside the BC Coroners Service in the investigation.
RCMP did not report where the skiers were from.
