Two new wildfires sparked in the valley

There are two new wildfires burning in the Columbia Valley today (July 24).

One fire catching a lot of attention on social media is located in Horsethief Creek drainage, about seven km north of Panorama Mountain Resort.

Discovered at 3:15 p.m., the out-of-control, lightning-caused fire is about 70 hectares.

There is another out-of-control, lightning-caused fire discovered at 2:11 p.m. today that is located in Mia Creek, about 15 km northeast of Canal Flats.

The fire is estimated at .3 ha.
