Whiteway ice still not thick enough to use
The Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club Jan. 2 issued a social media update on the thickness of Lake Windermere ice, noting it is still too thin to open the Whiteway.
“Brad has been doing his ice checks and we thought it would be good to show people what he’s looking for. Currently there is seven inches of solid, clear, hard bubble free ice (this is the strongest ice) and one inch of slush ice,” the club noted alongside a photo (above) showing ice thickness.
“Eight inches of ice is the club’s minimum depth requirement to be able to use the Skidoo to set track if there was enough snow to do so.
“So we need more snow for us to be able to open the Whiteway with the current ice thickness,” the club concluded.
