Windermere firefighters respond to equipment fire

Members of the Windermere Fire Department responded to an equipment fire in Timber Ridge yesterday evening (April 15).

“Upon arrival, we found a piece of street sweeping equipment fully engulfed in flames,” explained Columbia Valley Rural Fire & Rescue Assistant Chief Joss Advocaat. “During the fire, one of the loader’s tires failed from the heat and exploded causing a loud boom that could be heard from the surrounding area. The fire itself was contained to the one piece of equipment.”

In total, eight firefighters and three trucks from the Windermere Fire Department responded to the call.  There were no injuries and the fire has been fully extinguished.

The fire is not believed to be suspicious in nature.
