Winter storm warning for Rogers Pass

Environment Canada has Dec. 6 issued a winter storm warning for the Trans-Canada Highway – Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass areas.

There is also a snowfall warning for Kootenay Pass.

Hazardous winter conditions are expected starting this evening until Saturday (Dec. 7).

“A Pacific frontal system will bring snowfall to parts of B.C.’s central interior this evening to Saturday with accumulations ranging from 20 to 30 cm,” Environment Canada stated.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions. The site shiftintowinter.ca reminds drivers to know before you go. Adjust to winter driving behaviour and use winter tires and chains. Road conditions are available at drivebc.ca.
