2020-2024 financial plan available for public comment

City of Cranbrook council unanimously approved the 2020 – 2024 Proposed Five Year Financial Plan Summary last night (Dec. 9) and directed city staff to commence with the public consultation process.

Coun. Wayne Price credited city financial staff for preparing “probably one of the more challenging budgets you’ve been tasked with” in at the least the past 15 years.

“Further to that, I think all the departments deserve kudos for the time and effort they put into presenting their departmental budgets,” added Mayor Lee Pratt.

The tax levy increases reflected in the proposed 2020 – 2024 Five-Year Financial Plan are as follows: 2020 – 2.88%; 2021  – 2.77%; 2022 – 3.68%; 2023 – 2.76%; and 2024 at 1.56%.

The 2020 tax levy increase reviewed at the October 23 meeting was 2.85%.

Copies of the proposed document are available for pick up at City Hall starting Tuesday, December 10. Copies can also be downloaded from the city website.

Written submissions are invited from the public and will be considered by council at its Regular Meeting on Monday, January 6. Written submissions must be received at City Hall by 4 p.m. on Friday, December 20.
