2026 Committee and Acting Mayor appointments set

City of Cranbrook council recently appointed city committee and acting mayor appointments for 2026.

The committee appointments ensure council representation and participation in key community boards and advisory groups.

The appointments are:

Councillor Wesly Graham and Councillor Lynnette Wray (non-voting members to the Advisory Planning Commission);

Councillor Wayne Stetski (Cranbrook Public Library Board and the Ktunaxa Kinbasket Treaty Advisory Committee (Councillor Norma Blissett as alternate);

Councillor Mike Peabody (Cranbrook History Centre Board and the Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce);

Councillor Ron Popoff (non-voting member to the Visit Cranbrook Board – former Cranbrook Tourism).

All appointments are set to expire at the inaugural meeting of Council in November 2026.

Council also approved the 2026 Acting Mayor schedule, where a council member serves in the mayor’s place if Mayor Wayne Price is absent or unable to act.

The schedule is as follows:

Councillor Stetski (January and July 2026);

Councillor Wray (February and August, 2026);

Councillor Blissett (March and October, 2026);

Councillor Graham (April and September, 2026);

Councillor Peabody (May & November 1–9, 2026);

Councillor Popoff (June 2026).

This rotation is required under the Community Charter and the city’s Council Procedure Bylaw, which direct council to appoint Acting Mayors each year.
