Arrest made in homicide of former local
Kelowna RCMP has made an arrest in a three-year-old homicide case involving a former Cranbrook resident.
On Friday, November 18, serious crime investigators coordinated and effected the arrest of a suspect believed to be connected with the alleged homicide, of Christopher Michael Ausman, reported Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey of Kelowna RCMP.
“The alleged suspect, Steven Randy Pirko, has now been charged with Second Degree Murder, O’Donaghey said.
Pirko wasexpected to appear in Kelowna Law Courts on Wednesday November 23.
Ausman, 32, was found deceased in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 25, 2014 when a general duty officer with the Kelowna RCMP found him on a sidewalk in the 100 block of Highway 33 West.
“From the early on-set of this investigation there were key factors to suggest that Christopher’s death was suspicious in nature, as such the Kelowna RCMP Serious Crime Unit (SCU) assumed conduct of the investigation into his death,” O’Donaghey reported.
