Cranbrook Public Library
In 1912, a visitor to Cranbrook felt “something is wrong with the people here. In all my travels over British Columbia…Cranbrook is the only city of importance which I have visited in which there is no public library.”
Ever since the railways arrival in 1898, the growing population wondered why Cranbrook was “a town without books.”
‘Who We Are: The 100 Years History of the Cranbrook Public Library’ tells this story. Full of historic photos and published by Wild Horse Creek Press, this book is now available for purchase at the library and Huckleberry Books. Priced at $20, all proceeds go to the library.
We have been fortunate receive video shout-outs from around the globe, including one or two local celebrities. These can be seen on our Facebook page.
As we enter the final month of the Library’s 100th Anniversary, I would like to offer all my heartfelt thanks for everyone who celebrated with us. Your time and energy will not be forgotten. Here is to the library’s next 100 years!
Our hours are:
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday
10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday
1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday
