Bandits split weekend double-headers in Montana
The Cranbrook Bandits earned a weekend split against Glacier (Whitefish, MT) and Mission Valley (Polson, MT) in American Legion action this weekend.
On Saturday the Bandits opened a double-header against the Glacier Twins with a lopsided 14-2 win. Rookie Brandon Thorn got the win.
In the second game, the Bandits fought the Twins and the weather as they couldn’t overcome either in a 9-2 rain-soaked loss that ended in six innings after a 90-minute rain delay.
On Sunday in Polson against the Mission Valley Mariners, the Bandits couldn’t overcome a slow start and five errors as Cranbrook was doubled-up by the Mariners, 10-5. In the second game the Bandits’ bats came alive as they thumped the Mariners 12-0. Veteran left-hander Tyler Thorn sprayed three hits to get the shutout win.
With graduation weekend approaching, the Bandits will take a rookie-laden roster into the Big Bucks tournament in Libby, Montana. The Bandits will be without seven veterans as they will be participating in the high-school graduations of Mt. Baker Secondary School and Selkirk Secondary School.
