Banff Film Fest World Tour adventures returning
For its 31st year, the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is back, with many amazing and inspiring films that explore different cultures, sports, and, of course, spectacular scenery.
The event will be taking place at Key City Theatre on Friday, January 5 and Saturday, January 6 with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and films starting at 7 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased through the Key City Theatre box office online, over the phone, or in person for $30 per night, or $50 for a weekend pass. More event details can be found at wildsight.ca/bmff.
Each night of the tour boasts an incredible line-up to connect theatre-goers with the passion and drive of athletes and nature-lovers from across the world.
Earthside, a mountaineering and ski film that pays a beautiful tribute to Hilaree Nelson (December 13, 1972 – September 26, 2022), follows the expedition of four women with a vision to climb and ski first descents on Baffin Island.
While another, Subterranean, follows the stories of two caving teams as they look to explore both the longest and deepest caves in British Columbia.
Those who prefer to stay above ground can watch Two Point Four in awe as Leo Houlding and his family climb Norway’s national mountain, Stetind — including his five-year-old son and nine-year-old daughter! From biking on volcanos to learning about climbing via echolocation to a full North-to-south traverse of Canada, there’s sure to be a film for everyone.
The World Tour program is brought to the Cranbrook community by local environmental education-based non-profit Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook.
This event runs as Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook’s largest fundraiser of the year with proceeds from the tickets helping to fund their conservation, education, and regeneration programs throughout the year.
