Best outcome possible with fire call
Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services (CFES) responded to a fire call at about 1:35 p.m. this afternoon (Sept. 8) that had the best outcome possible.
A CFES spokesperson said the rural Albert Street homeowners made the right call by closing all the doors in the house after smelling smoke and calling 9-1-1, and waiting outside for emergency personnel to arrive.
Two CFES fire trucks and an emergency response vehicle, along with Cranbrook RCMP and BC Ambulance Service personnel responded to the call.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the fire had essentially extinguished itself from the lack of oxygen thanks to the homeowners shutting their doors.
“It was the best outcome; a good day today,” the CFES spokesperson on the scene said.
No one was injured in the fire, which is still being investigated by CFES.
Albert Street is located off Wilks Road, off King Street/Wycliffe Road north of the city.
