Boil Water Notice for Cranbrook

The City of Cranbrook has issued a Boil Water Notice effective immediately – which replaces the Water Quality Advisory.

Overnight Monday, into Tuesday morning, a slug of low chlorinated water followed by a slug of high turbidity water entered the water system.

Public Works crews were working on screen cleaning at the Phillips Reservoir overnight. Some system flushing has occurred to try to remove as much of this untreated water as possible, but the city is not able to guarantee that all of it has been cleared.

A Boil Water Notice is now in effect. All water to be used for drinking, washing food, brushing teeth or cooking with needs to come to a full rolling boil for at least one minute before using.

The city and Interior Health are monitoring this closely and will share more information as it becomes available.
