Cranbrook’s biggest community festival is booked for the dates June 19 to 22 at numerous parks, venues and businesses across the city.

The theme for Spirit of the Rockies Festival 2025 is ‘Spirit of Stories: Celebrating 100 Years of the Cranbrook Public Library,’ and fittingly, one of the first events of this year’s festival is the annual Business Decoration Competition.

Business owners and managers are invited to decorate storefronts, windows, and interiors with displays that celebrate storytelling, books, community learning, and the magic of libraries.

Spirit of the Rockies is always about plenty of great grub and this year is no different with pancake breakfasts and barbecues sprinkled throughout the run of the festival, beginning Thursday, June 19 at Tamarack Centre for the Kick-off Pancake Breakfast hosted by Friends of Children (8 -11 a.m.).

If you can’t make that, try lunch at Friends of the Cranbrook Public Library’s kick-off barbecue from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Indulge in barbecued delights, sponsored by Mr. Mike’s.

The run of the festival is packed with family fun events, sports tourneys, feasts and entertainment, as well as annual biggies such as the Fitness Inc. annual Strongman Classic (11:45 a.m. Saturday, June 21), the St. Eugene Grand Parade (10:30 a.m. Saturday) and Meant 2B Loved Pet Rescue Weiner Dog Races (1 p.m. Saturday).

If you want to cap a busy Saturday by rockin’ your face off, head down to the Rockies Beverage Garden in the Central Fairgrounds (Balment Park between the Western Financial Place and the Skatepark) to catch BC/DC between 6 and 10:30 p.m.
