Bowen Byram rookie runner-up in WHL
Cranbrook’s Bowen Byram’s ascent up the junior hockey charts continued today when he was named the runner up as Rookie of the Year in the Western Hockey League (WHL).
A member of the Vancouver Giants, Byram scored six goals and added 21 helpers to go along with 52 penalty minutes in 60 games this past season. He also represented Canada on the WHC-17 (Team Red) and recent WJC-18 team.
Dylan Cozens of the Lethbridge Hurricanes was named Rookie of the Year (Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy).
The WHL Awards ceremony was held May 2 at the Sheraton Red Deer Hotel in Red Deer, Alta., to honour the top performances from the WHL’s 2017-18 season.
