Budget consultation coming to Cranbrook

The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services has announced details for its consultation on the next provincial budget.

The committee will hold several public meetings to hear from British Columbians about their priorities for Budget 2027. The meetings are anticipated to take place in June 2026, and will be a mix of in-person and virtual meetings, with one coming to Cranbrook.

The committee expects to hold in-person meetings in the following communities:

* Burnaby

* Castlegar

* Cranbrook

* Dawson Creek

* Kamloops

* Kelowna

* Mission

* Nanaimo

* Prince George

* Smithers

* Vancouver

* Victoria

British Columbians are asked to indicate their interest in speaking with the committee by Friday, April 10, 2026, at 3 p.m. (Mountain time) by completing a request form on the Parliamentary Committees Consultation Portal.

The opportunity to provide written input to the committee will be available beginning in June.

The committee is comprised of government and Opposition MLAs. The committee is tasked by the legislative assembly to undertake an annual public consultation on the next provincial budget and to make recommendations based on its consultation.

The members of the committee are:

* Paul Choi, MLA, Burnaby South-Metrotown (chair);

* Donegal Wilson, MLA, Boundary-Similkameen (deputy chair);

* Rohini Arora, MLA, Burnaby East;

* Steve Morissette, MLA, Kootenay-Monashee; and

* Bryan Tepper, MLA, Surrey-Panorama.
