Celebrating Family Day at the pool
It was a Family Day to remember on Monday last when the local Lions Club, teamed up with Save-On-Foods, and with the cooperation of the City of Cranbrook, sponsored a free swim to celebrate this great February holiday.
Not knowing quite what to expect, the Lions reached out to the business community to enhance the experience with free treats and beverages to go along with the activity.
And they responded in true family celebration spirit.
There were TimBits and hot chocolate from Hortons, cookies from Save-On-Foods, tasty pastry treats from Cobbs Bread, coffee from McDonalds, juice boxes from Superstore, treats from Safeway, and coupons for more good eats and treats from A&W, Burger King, and Dairy Queen.
“At first it looked like we had way too much,” said Curtis Bell, President of the Cranbrook Lions Club. “But when the nearly 250 people got out of the pool, they ate us right down to nothing.”
City of Cranbrook staff were pleased to see this large turnout of citizens celebrating Family Day by enjoying our city’s facilities.
