CHC Summer Camp returning for fifth year
The Cranbrook History Centre (CHC) is excited to announce the return of the Junior Paleontology summer camp!
Young fossil enthusiasts will enjoy a series of topics to explore each week. The camps will be offered to kids ages six to 10 who are interested in learning about fossils, paleontology, geology, and the evolution of dinosaurs.
The Cranbrook History Centre will be running the camps on July 5, 12, 19, and 30 and again on August 9, 16, 23, and 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Extending the Junior Paleontology summer camp was made possible with the help of the Kootenay Prospectors and Miners Group.
This summer, the Junior Paleontology program is operating as a series; a new topic will be introduced and explored each week. Camp attendees can join the CHC for one camp or for the month! The summer program features a hands-on learning experience with a focus on fun. Some of last summer’s most popular activities will be returning, including rock breaking. Cranbrook’s future paleontologist will get to extract fossils and will take home what they find!
Topics that will be explored this summer will include fossilization, environment and climate change, geology, evolution, paleontology, and more! Junior paleontologists will take home a variety of crafts and knowledge.
If your young scientists want more fun at home, the CHC is also renting rock-breaking fossil discovery kits for $4.50.
