City again reaching out to Victoria about urban deer
City of Cranbrook council directed administrative staff Dec. 5 to send a letter to Minister of Forests Katrine Conroy, under the signature of Mayor Wayne Price on behalf of council, to further discuss the matter of urban deer in the city.
One year ago, council requested a meeting with the ministry to discuss the urban deer issue, which occurred in the spring of 2022.
Ministry staff at that time, indicated that discussions would happen within the ministry to see what might be able to be done.
City staff had several discussions with local ministry staff in the summer 2023 about potential management strategies.
To date, no plans or actions have been put into place to manage the urban deer population.
