City rescinds Boil Water Notice for all customers

The Boil Water Notice in the City of Cranbrook, which has been in effect for all customers on the city’s water system since Thursday, January 16, has officially been rescinded effective immediately by both the Interior Health Authority (IHA) and the city.

The city received approval from IHA to officially rescind the advisory on Saturday, January 18, after water sample tests confirmed there are no contamination issues. The Boil Water Notice is no longer in effect and residents may resume regular water use.

We thank everyone for their patience and understanding due to the impact this has had on the community over the past couple of days.

Looking forward, the city is undertaking additional measures to further protect and purify the city’s water supply.

The city has approved funding and investment for a new UV Disinfection Facility Treatment Plant, which will provide additional protection for the public. The UV Disinfection Facility Treatment Plant is currently in the design phase. Updated scheduling and timelines for the project are expected in late 2025.
