City working with church to remove property from ALR
The City of Cranbrook will be working with the Christian and Missionary Alliance Canadian Pacific District on a property exclusion application from the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC).
Cranbrook council authorized city staff Oct. 16 to make an application on behalf of the Alliance Church after it applied to the city for subdivision of the property at 1200 Kootenay Street North to create separate parcels for the church and school.
During the application review it was determined that the property is within the Provincial Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR), a city Engineering and Development Services report noted.
As of September 2020, the ALC changed the procedure for making application for ALR Exclusions requiring that local governments initiate an application on behalf of a landowner.
All costs associated with meeting the application requirements of the ALC will be paid for by the property owner/applicant.
