Co-working Space grand opening April 5
Ground Floor Co-working Space invites the business community to celebrate their grand opening on Thursday, April 5 from 4 to 6 p.m.
The new co-working space located at 100-131 7th Ave. South is marking the occasion by hosting a social event for small businesses, nonprofit organizations, government officials, and community members who are curious about co-working. āItās a really exciting time to be in small business in the East Kootenay. Cranbrook is recognized as the urban centre of our region and now we have a professional co-working space to compliment that position,ā said Tanya Malcolm, Community & Marketing Manager at the Ground Floor Co-working Space.
Co-working spaces are rapidly changing global workplace trends. According to the 2018 Global Co-working Survey, since 2015 there has been a 220% increase in co-working spaces around the world and in the same time frame the number of co-working members has grown from 545,000 to 1.7 million.

When it comes to impressive numbers the Ground Floor measures up, the nearly $2 million facility has collaborated with numerous investors, grantors, and local businesses to kick start the projectās commitment to co-working in the East Kootenay region,ā Malcolm noted in a media release.
- Ā $100,000 in funding from the BC Rural Dividend Fund;
- Ā $50,000 in funding from Employment & Social Development Canada;
- Ā Sponsorships from IT & Network community partners All 7 Tech Solutions and Isosceles;
- Ā $1.7 million in private investments;
- Ā Over 25 local businesses supporting the renovation.
Ground Floor Coworking Space is a shared office space for entrepreneurs, freelancers, small but growing companies and nonprofits who want to join a co-working community of professionals making a big impact through their work.
