Còig performing at Key City Theatre March 12

Another esteemed traditional group is coming to the Key City Theatre stage on Saturday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Còig, one of Atlantic Canada’s premiere traditional groups, is an ensemble of four superb East Coast musicians. In one explosive coming together, what were once solo acts on stage has amalgamated into one electrifying super group.

With driving tunes, haunting songs, and infectious energy, Còig is an unparalleled musical force. You won’t be able to sit still!

Còig is a Canadian folk music group from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. They are one of Atlantic Canada’s most exciting Celtic traditional groups made up of accomplished multi-instrumentalists, Chrissy Crowley, Rachel Davis and Darren McMullen.

With the fiery Celtic high-energy style as its musical core, Còig easily shifts between century-old tunes of past generations to original and upbeat compositions, featuring the band’s range of over a dozen instruments (vocals, fiddles, piano, guitars, banjo, mandolin, viola, bouzouki, whistles, and more).

The band has garnered esteemed awards in the industry and they have been awarded as the 2020 Canadian Folk Music Awards winner.

Indeed, they are the best in trad music, in a non-traditional way!
