Collisions keeping Cranbrook RCMP busy
Old man winter has reared his ugly head and landed in Cranbrook.

Although later than usual, the second snowfall of the season has caught several travelers off guard and Cranbrook RCMP responded to three separate motor vehicle incidents between 6:30 and 10:30 this morning.
At 6:30 a.m. Cranbrook RCMP responded to a collision on Cranbrook Street N at Willowbrook Drive. A vehicle made a left hand turn at the intersection when unsafe to do so and was t-boned by a vehicle travelling north. The driver making the turn was issued a violation ticket.
At around 9:30 a.m. Cranbrook RCMP was advised of a motor vehicle incident near Kennedy Road on Hwy 95A. Police attended and found a minivan on its side in the bottom of the ditch. Occupants were taken to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital with minor injuries. A violation ticket was issued to the driver for having improper tires.
The third incident occurred around Moyie Provincial Park where a vehicle went into the ditch. The driver was uninjured and had already begun the process of removing the vehicle.
“Although winter waited longer than usual to come to Cranbrook, motorists should have already had their winter tires in place as it is mandatory to have them on starting October 1. Cranbrook RCMP would also like to advise the motoring public to have some sort of winter kit in their cars, including blankets, water and food, in case they do have a collision,” stated Cst. Katie Forgeron of Cranbrook RCMP.
