Construction values increase in Key City

Construction activity and value in the City of Cranbrook increased in 2016 over 2015.
City chief administrative officer David Kim reported Jan. 9 construction value increased 55% last year over 2015, with $26.8 million in construction costs compared to $17.1 million.
The city issued 265 building permits in 2016, a 15% increase from 232 in 2015.
“This is very encouraging news,” Kim told council.
Mayor Lee Pratt said he is “very pleased” to see an increase in construction activity in the city.
“It’s great news. It shows confidence in the City of Cranbrook,” he said.
