COTR Continuing Education offers exciting new options

The Cranbrook/Kimberley Winter 2013 Continuing Education (College of the Rockies) guide is now arriving in mailboxes throughout both communities.  As always, it is full of fun and practical opportunities for almost every interest.

Continuing Education Programmer, Danette Polzin, noted, “In addition to the usual selection of first aid, bookkeeping and computer courses we have a wide selection of art and cooking classes available.”

“We are also pleased to announce our upcoming Log Scaling and Grading course,” Polzin continued.  “We know there is a shortage of log scaling and grading professionals in the area, creating challenges for lumber operations.  We hope this course can help close the labour gap in the East Kootenay.”

The Log Scaling and Grading course, scheduled to run in March and April is timed to work in conjunction with the Interior Scaling exam scheduled for May.   The training aims to prepare students to successfully write the exam.

Those looking to spruce up their look for 2013 will want to take part in two different courses being offered with local wardrobe coach Dori Vandaelle.  These courses seek to help participants create individual, innovative and budget-friendly wardrobes for any occasion.  “Dori’s sense of style combined with her humour help make learning to build a wardrobe fun and easy, without breaking the budget,” states Polzin.

Essential oils can be used to treat all kinds of conditions and ailments for every member of the family – even the family pet!  Michelle Cubin, owner of The Healing Hollow will lead Essential Oils for Your Whole Family, a fun and interactive class which will cover the basics of essential oils.

Polzin says, “We are excited to have Michelle Cubin onboard to teach students about the use of essential oils.  She has started shipping her oils worldwide with great reception and I use them on my entire family on a regular basis.”
