Council exploring Balment options for sports facility

All the options are in the offing.

City of Cranbrook council passed a resolution on February 25 to provide land at Balment Park to Kootenay East Youth Soccer Association (KEYSA) for the Cranbrook Indoor Sports Facility.

Council requested staff to conduct research on a new option six, to see if placing the dome on a portion of the parking lot in front of the Cranbrook Curling Club would allow for both the BMX park and the dome to fit together with the least impact on user groups.

On Monday, March 11, council accepted all the options provided by staff on possible placement of the dome.

Staff requested an additional week to further review the new option six to ensure dome placement at that location would not impact truck access into Western Financial Place through the ramp at the south end of the facility.

These options will be back before council on Monday March 25.
