Citizen of the Year Award returning and new Education Grants introduced

The Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce the return of the Citizen of the Year award and the introduction of the new Education Grant program.

A tradition dating back to 1973, the prestigious Citizen of the Year Award honours an individual whose dedication, leadership, and selfless service have left a lasting mark on our community. With the sponsorship support of VAST Resource Solutions, the Cranbrook Chamber is reviving this illustrious award, which has been on hiatus since 2022.

The Cranbrook Chamber is also launching its Education Grant program from the Cranbrook Chamber Endowment Fund, established with the Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies in 2019.

This new initiative supports chamber members and associates who are pursuing a business-related academic program or continuing education course at College of the Rockies, as part of the Chamber’s commitment to fostering the next generation of excellence.

The 2025 Citizen of the Year and new Education Grant recipients will be named at this year’s Business Excellence Awards, taking place Friday, October 24, at Key City Theatre.

This premier event is a night to honour the achievements of local businesses, celebrate community champions, and spotlight the people shaping the future of Cranbrook.

“The Chamber is incredibly proud to lead these meaningful designations,” said Stacey Brensrud, Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.

“The return of the Citizen of the Year Award and the inaugural presentations of our Education Grants are the perfect complement to the Business Excellence Awards—a night dedicated to celebrating the change-makers of Cranbrook. Chamber members are at the heart of this work, and our volunteer Board Directors are the visionaries who advance the success of local business.

“We know that a healthy economy is the foundation of a healthy and thriving community. The team at the Chamber is working hard to champion the needs of business in Cranbrook and support the broader community.”

Guests can expect an evening of entertainment, community spirit, and celebration as 15 Business Excellence Awards are presented across a wide range of categories. With a red carpet welcome, mingling, music, food and drink, it promises to be a memorable evening for all. We’ll see you on the red carpet.
