Cranbrook Public Library celebrates centennial

The Cranbrook Public Library celebrated 100 years of existence on Friday, July 4.

More than 700 people attended the celebration held between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., stopping to visit with library staff and Friends of the Library volunteers, as well as take in a variety of fascinating displays and snack on a treat or two.

Children were a huge part of the celebration with a host of activities and educational experiences on hand for youngsters.

Among the many displays was the first book checked out in the library and …

… the oldest book in the library…
And the most “unreturned book” and most needing to be replaced, featuring local author/photographer Janice Strong.

Here’s to 100 years of improving literacy and boosting Cranbrook’s citizenry and here’s to 100 more, Cranbrook Public Library!
