With the popularity of online buying and selling, Cranbrook RCMP wants to ensure the community has options for completing ‘Marketplace’ transactions and online exchanges.

As a result, the Cranbrook RCMP Detachment has designated an Exchange Zone located at the front lawn of the building.

The area is marked with signage providing a neutral, public location for buyers and sellers who prefer not to meet at personal residences to complete their online transactions.

“We encourage anyone arranging an online purchase exchange with someone they do not know to consider using this space or another public, well-lit, monitored location as it can significantly reduce the risk of fraud, theft, or other unwanted incidents,” the detachment stated on social media.
