Cranbrook RCMP lacing up in support of Special Olympics BC
Cranbrook RCMP members are set to step up and make a difference for Special Olympics BC.
They will join Special Olympics athletes and other members of their community for their Law
Enforcement Torch Run for SOBC event on Saturday June 1 at 11 a.m.
The run/walk will start and end at Rotary Park. A BBQ by donation will also be held at the park.
Everyone can join the fun and help raise funds and awareness for athletes with intellectual
disabilities by registering at https://letr.crowdchange.ca/69916/team/35153.
From May 25 to June 9, law enforcement agencies from across the province will be hosting in-
person events for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics BC.
Supporters will also be able to raise funds and run/walk on their own with the Virtual Torch Run.
This year, the Law Enforcement Torch Run for SOBC matters more than ever.
In Special Olympics BC’s year-round sport, youth, and health programs, athletes with
intellectual disabilities gain vital friendships, skills, and healthy activity. For too many of them, Special Olympics is the only place where they feel included and seen for their abilities.
More than ever, Special Olympics BC athletes need your support to overcome the pandemic’s
lasting impact on the programs they love and the friends who matters so much to them.
“Special Olympics is immensely important to me because I started at a time when I really
needed direction in life. Through the community of my coaches, my fellow athletes, my fellow competitors, I was able to turn my life around into a completely new, positive direction,” said
Special Olympics BC athlete Daniel Thomas.
