Happy New Year from Cranbrook RCMP. We hope you were able to ring in 2026 safely and enjoy time with friends and family.
Here’s a look at our 24-hour recap from 6 a.m. December 31, 2025, to 5:59 a.m. January 1, 2026.
While celebrations were happening across our community, our officers had a busy night responding to 43 calls to service.
In addition to a variety of calls our members were also out conducting proactive patrols that resulted in six impaired driversbeing removed from our roads with vehicles impounded and drivers issued Immediate Roadside Prohibitions (IRP).

The first file of the New Year
At 12:37a.m. on January 1, while conducting patrols on 7th Avenue South, an officer noticed a vehicle with a burnt-out headlight and initiated a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer formed the suspicion that they were driving while impaired and a roadside test was issued and failed. The driver was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions and the vehicle was impounded.
