Cranbrook RCMP Report

The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) May 28 to 6 a.m., June 4.

Police handled 162 calls for service throughout this week.

Among the calls police handled…

One collision in the city: The offending driver was charged in the minor injury accident.

Two hit and run: One collision involved a pedestrian walking his bike across Victoria Avenue where a vehicle struck the front tire of the bike and continued north without stopping. The pedestrian was not injured. And a collision where a cyclist was struck by a black pickup truck with a tinted back window on Industrial Rd #2. The bike was damaged and rider did not sustain any injury.

Six assaults: Three domestic assaults; two unfounded; and one assault occurred between family members.

Nine Mental Health Act related calls: Two apprehension and three assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

12 thefts.

Three shoplifting.

Two thefts of autos: A theft of a lime green 2013 Kawasaki kf450 dirtbike stolen from carport; and a CAT excavator stolen from jobsite in the industrial area.

Four thefts from auto:   A vehicle rummaged through but nothing stolen; cheque missing from another incident; purse stolen; new Garmin Watch stolen. All vehicles were unlocked…again.

Three thefts other: Including a theft of a basket or yard ornament; theft of license plate off a trailer.

Four break and enter to residence: One occurred in a rural area and appears retaliatory in nature as lots of damage done to residence. The rest were in town, including one attempted B&E to a residence and appears entry not gained; one occurred where the homeowner woke up to the suspect in the room. The suspect ran away but an IPAD was stolen/; and one B&E where multiple items of sports memorabilia were stolen.

One break and enter other: A B&E to a shed, suspect was arrested.

Four damage to property: Including damage to light posts in rural area; damage to vehicle; kids on roof of local school; and damage to a vehicle that was parked at a local dealership.

One drug seizure: heroin.

16 false alarms and false 911 calls.
